One Night Ultimate Alien

Created by Bezier Games

The far-out sequel to the mega-popular One Night Ultimate Werewolf. This time, the app is the star with dynamic roles and narration!

Latest Updates from Our Project:

New Troublemaker and Robber Alternative Artwork cards
over 7 years ago – Mon, Nov 14, 2016 at 12:16:23 AM

The new cards, based on your survey responses, are complete! And here they are:

I love the choices that the community made here!

Fill out your survey if you haven't already

While most of you (right now, 93%) have filled out your survey, not everyone has. Please do so as soon as possible.

The next update won't be for a little while, and will document the progress made on both the printed components and the app.

Have a great Thanksgiving for our US backers (and even if you aren't in the US, you can celebrate with us by having some turkey)! :)

Surveys Wednesday!
over 7 years ago – Wed, Oct 26, 2016 at 12:05:20 AM

Surveys will be going out to everyone starting tomorrow, Wednesday, October 25th.

This is a Backer Kit survey, so in additional to specifying which add-ons or multiples of a pledge level you backed, you'll also be able to order additional add-ons or pledge levels.

There are a few things to be aware of:

1) Please fill out the survey as soon as possible, in the next week if you can. While we'll leave the survey open for a few months, some supplies will be limited, resulting in some components being turned off if we exceed available supply. You'll still get your base pledge, but you might not be able to get duplicates of pledges or additional add-ons (even if you wanted them and added the money for them when you originally pledged). We'll need to order specific quantities of many items soon, and we use the survey results to determine those quantities.

2) Be sure to use your correct address. While you can change your address very late in the process (up to a few weeks before we begin shipping), please be sure whatever address you use is deliverable. There will be an additional shipping charge to reship items that are returned because of incorrect addresses, and it will take a lot longer for you to receive your stuff.

3) Please be sure to use the "contact us" button (under "need help?" in the upper right corner) of the survey if you have questions about the survey. Do *not* post questions to the kickstarter message board, as we do not review that board at this time and your question will likely go unanswered.

Thanks again for being part of this project, and thank you for filling out the survey as quickly as possible.

Project Progress update

The app is moving along, and we hope to get a new build into the hands of internal testers soon.

The rules are almost completed, but they will be refined over the next month or so as different issues come up that we can address there.

Once we get the initial flood of survey results in, we'll order some of the long-pole items, like the tokens and boxes.

Essen Spiel and the Survey/Pledge Manager
over 7 years ago – Sun, Oct 09, 2016 at 07:06:10 PM

This week is the holiest of weeks for boardgamers - Essen Spiel!

Bezier Games will be at Essen as usual, in booth 1-G139. For the first time in several years, we will NOT be showing off the new One Night game, as it is a lot further from publication than normal, but we will have the other One Night games available for sale.

Instead, we'll be showing off Colony, a highly anticipated engine-building, dice-as-resources game from Ted Alspach. While we will have copies to sell at the booth, they're limited because of a huge number of preorders....if you're going to Essen and considering Colony, be sure to get your copy on Thursday.

We'll also be showing off and selling the just-released America, the party trivia game collaboration between Ted Alspach and Friedemann Friese, where being close to the right answer is usually good enough.

Finally, we're announcing a brand new game, New York Slice, from Jeff Allers. Details on the game this Wednesday!

You can watch a live stream of Colony and New York Slice demos as we kick off the BGG live stream on Wednesday, October 12th, at 10am Central EUROPEAN time (in the middle of the night in the US).

If you're attending Essen Spiel (and if you play games, you should make the pilgrimage out to Germany for it at least once, since it's amazingly awesome), stop by the Bezier Games booth (Hall 1, booth 1-G139) and say hi. Ted will be at the booth each day from 10-11am to sign games.

Here's a look at our booth last year (it's hard to see with all these people in the way!):

Survey NEXT week

Sometime next week (the week of October 16th) we'll send out the survey. For the first time ever, we're using a pledge manager to help us deal with the complexities of the project: BackerKit. This tool will allow you to easily indicate which add-ons you included in your pledge amount (or multiple reward levels), or if you did the math wrong (it happens, don't worry about it), you can adjust as necessary. In addition, if you wanted additional add-ons or copies of any pledge level, you'll be able to do that here as well.

Once it is available (sometime after Oct 16), please fill out the survey/pledge manager as soon as possible, because based on the initial results from the survey, we'll be nailing down quantities of most of these items. If you wait too long (say, more than a week), you run the risk of some items not being available for add-ons/additional reward levels, as we'll cut certain things off when we reach the limits on those.

We will send out another update when the pledge manager is live (this will be AFTER October 16th).

Project status

A lot is happening for Alien right now:

  • Artwork is being worked on by Gus Batts for the new backer-defined alternative artwork cards.
  • The book is in the process of being written.
  • The app is being worked on, with a lot of the architectural items addressed this past week, including setup of a Bonus Pack 3 area for some roles, and the removal of hard-coded wake orders that allow the developer to much more easily do all the things he has to do with this version of the app.
  • The rules are being rewritten and adjusted based on the unlocked roles.

Behind-the-scenes unlocked, Artwork Styles finalized!
over 7 years ago – Sun, Oct 02, 2016 at 02:40:59 PM

Congratulations on unlocking the Facebook like social media stretch goal:

This will take a little bit of time to put together, and we'll notify you in a future update when it is available online for viewing.

While the other stretch goals (Instagram and Twitter) were not achieved, we still might try to get those gameplay videos out at some point, though most likely closer to the "real" launch of the game next year.

Artwork styles finalized!

Thanks to the more than 1000 votes, we have final results for the Troublemaker and Robber.

The Troublemaker will have a Mandy Moore-style hair bob, she'll be wearing an evening gown, and she'll be holding two cards.

The Robber will have Brad Pitt-ish long hair with a goatee, will be wearing a suit and tie, and will look even more evil than he does now.

This is the direction that will be given to the artist, and we'll see what he comes up with...the images will be shared in a future update as soon as we have them!

The "real" backer survey - coming in about two weeks

We're putting together the real backer survey now, and will post it in just over two weeks. For the first time, we'll be using BackerKit, a pledge manager that provides a lot of tools for you as a backer to both (1) be very specific about what you backed, thanks to all the add-ons available in the campaign, and (2) allow you to adjust and add items/pledge levels to your reward level. Because the reward is a long ways off, you'll have the opportunity to change your address very close to the time of shipping, so don't freak out if you think you'll be moving before then.

We have our TWO Alternate Artwork cards - help decide the styles for each!
over 7 years ago – Fri, Sep 30, 2016 at 08:07:37 PM

After a full day of voting, we have two winners: Troublemaker and Robber! The Drunk was right behind them, however, just a few votes shy of the #2 spot.

The last alternative artwork survey

Now it is time for you to influence the look of the artwork. The results from this survey will be given as directives to the artist for the alternative artwork style of each of the cards. The final Alternative Artwork survey is here:
